  1. At the beginning of the year, Facebook removed 2.2 billion Fake accounts, action on many posts as well in 3 months.

At the beginning of the year, Facebook removed 2.2 billion Fake accounts, action on many posts as well. Social networking site Facebook has taken action against the Fake account to remove 2.2 billion accounts. At a time when it faces criticism for issues such as data sharing and fake account, the company has taken these steps.
That number is just slightly lower than Facebook’s 2.38 billion active monthly users around the world. By way of comparison, between October and December 2017, Facebook (FB) disabled 1.2 billion fake accounts in the previous quarter and 694 million.
The new numbers were published in the third Community Standards Enforcement report of the company on Thursday. Facebook will start releasing this report on a quarterly basis starting next year instead of twice a year, starting with Instagram included.

“Discourse health is as important as any financial report we do, so we should do it as often as we do,” said CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday’s report call with reporters. “Understanding the prevalence of harmful content will help businesses and governments design better systems to deal with it. I believe this should be done by every major internet service.”
Between January and March, on 19.4 million pieces of content, Facebook said it “took action.” The company said it appealed to 2.1 million pieces of content. 453,000 pieces of content were restored following the appeals.
For Facebook, hate speech was particularly challenging. The automated systems of the company are struggling to identify and remove hate speech, but the technology is improving. Facebook’s percentage of hate speech said it found proactive— meaning before users reported it — in the first quarter rose to 65.4 percent, up from 51.5 percent in the third quarter of 2018.
“What[ AI] can’t do well is understand context,” said Justin Osofsky, global operations ‘ Facebook vice president, on the call. “Context is key when evaluating things like hate speech.” Osofsky also said Facebook will launch a pilot program that will focus on hate speech by some of its content reviewers. The goal is to have a “deeper understanding” of how hate speech manifests and make “more precise calls.”
